FAQ
1.
What is the
Heating Box?
The
Heating Box is an integrated heat transfer control station that
accepts hot water from a heat source and then re-directs it as
required to provide domestic hot water and/or heat to hydronic
applications. It works to direct hot water traffic in the most efficient and effective
way to
satisfy household demand. The
Heating Box simplifies the design and installation of any
combination domestic hot water and hydronic space heating system. It
facilitates the application of single source heating appliance, such
as tankless water heater, with hydronic space heating and offers the benefits
of design time savings, easy installation, space savings and energy
savings.
The Heating Box is prefabricated with the highest quality components
and guided by the computer precision control necessary to perfect
domestic hot water and hydronic delivery.
2. What
applications can I use with the Heating Box?
The
Heating Box can be used with any type of hydronic heating
application including radiant in-floor heat, baseboard, hydronic air
handler, snow melting system, spa/pool water re-heating system and towel warmer etc.
3. What
types of heat sources can I use with the Heating Box?
You
can use any type of heat source in conjunction with the Heating
Box: boiler, tank water heater, tankless water heater, electric
water heater, solar, & much more.
4. What
factors do I need to consider selecting a heat source appliance?
The Heating Box is equipped with a high head pump that will achieve
a certain flow rate at given
pressure drop from the heat source. It is
recommended to cross reference the Heating Box¡¯s pump curve against
the possible heat source¡¯s pressure drop curve that would determine
the system¡¯s flow rate and BTU delivery. It is important to select
an appliance that will meet your BTU demand.
5. How
does the Heating Box differentiate between the domestic hot water
supply and the space heating supply?
The Heating Box is equipped
with a sensor that prioritizes the domestic hot water supply with
thermostatic mixing valve to ensure maximum domestic
hot water supply at safe and steady temperature.
6. Does
the Heating Box work with application like Snow Melt System with
glycol in water?
The
Closed-Loop System has two built-in heat exchangers to separate
water flow between domestic and space heating. It is ideal for
applications with the media in the water that is harmful for people
to consume. For the glycol system, it is recommended for no more
than 40% of glycol.
7. What
is the max BTU output of the Closed-Loop System?
It depends on
the heat source and design delta T you are using with the Heating Box.
8. How
many zones can the Heating Box control?
The standard area size we
recommend to use for the Heating Box is maximum around 2000 sq ft with most tankless gas water heater.
However, it can vary depending on the heat source and its output
temperature and the flow. Please contact us when your area
specification exceeds our recommendation.
9. Can
I use cascaded heat source system with the Heating Box?
Yes, presumably domestic hot water demanded over
average or/and required high flow facility and applied to heating
box or multi heating box application, one have to know first how big
space size and what kind space heating system intend to use such as
radiant heating or air handler system.
10. Do
you have a certification for my area?
The
Heating Box is certified by CSA (Canadian Standard Association)
11. Is
there a feature of diagnostics built in to the Heating Box?
No,
however our website and installation manual has a very detail
troubleshooting guide that will guide you through any possible
problems you might run into.
12. Where
can I buy this product? Can I buy it directly from you?
You
can purchase the Heating Box from any plumbing wholesaler in your
area.
If you need to find a wholesaler
in your area, give us a call.
13. What
is your lead time? Can It be shipped by UPS?
KyungDong America Inc is located in Southern California. The
Open-Loop System is 65 lbs and the Closed-Loop System is 95 lbs.
Both can be shipped by UPS but it prefer to be sent by a truck on the
Close-Loop System.
14.
Do you have a service technician in
my area?
No, contact to us immediately and we can walk you through with any problems
you might have.
15. What
is your warranty?
5 years
